2 brothers shot dead in Talisay

CEBU, Philippines - Two brothers were shot dead by an unidentified assailant in Mansueto Village, barangay Bulacao, Talisay City, the other night.

The fatalities were identified as Danilo Mitra Jr., 37 and Ernesto Mitra, 34, both trisikad drivers and residents of Friendly Homes Subdivision of the same barangay.

SPO3 Cleofas Bonjoc Sr. of the Talisay City police station said that while both victims were waiting for passengers in the said area, the assailant appeared and shot Danilo with a .45 cal. pistol.

Witnesses said Ernesto saw his older brother fall and tried to help him but was also shot as well.

 Danilo sustained five gunshot wounds in different parts of his body while Ernesto had three. Both victims were brought to Talisay City District Hospital but both were also declared dead a few minutes after arriving.

Responding police officers recovered five empty .45 cal. shells and one slug at the crime scene.

Bonjoc believes that a personal grudge was the motive of the crime. He reported that Danilo was an ex-convict who killed one person in their place.
