CEBU, Philippines - A 47-year-old foreman was killed by his men in a secluded place in barangay Kahumayan, Danao City around 7:30pm last Sunday.
The fatality was identified as Cesario Derecho, married, foreman of small mining firm of said place, while the suspects who eluded arrest were identified as Marcial Jicain, married, of Liburon, Carmen town and Jovenal Capute, married, of Hagnaya, Carmen.
Initial investigation by the Danao City police conducted showed that the victim and the two suspects were having a drinking spree in the house of Derecho’s brother-in-law Vicente Pupa.
When they were heading home, the two suspects allegedly connived with each other in mauling and stabbing Derecho at a secluded area.
The suspects then fled and still remain at large.
SPO3 Aresteo Espina, desk officer of Danao City police, said the victim was brought to the Danao District Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival owing to the multiple stab wounds he sustained.
Espina said the world-related reasons might have prompted the killing, but they are also not discounting the possibility that personal grudge is involved. — Gabriel C. Bonjoc/JMO (FREEMAN NEWS)
