Salon assistant manager indicted for "stealing" P24,000 proceeds

-

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office indicted an assistant salon manager for qualified theft following her failure to answer the accusations that she stole the sales of the shop she was entrusted to help manage.

The prosecutor’s office filed the case against Lea Bugayon before the Regional Trial Court in Cebu City wherein she was ordered to pay P24,000 for her temporary liberty as soon as the warrant of arrest is issued by the court against her.

The case stemmed from the complaint filed by the representative of Cutting Edge Salon, Inc.-David’s Salon Robinsons Cebu last year.

The complainant, Marilyn Albert, said she received reports on the alleged nefarious activity of the accused, who was allegedly stealing money from the salon. On June 16, 2008 the complainant said she verified the tip made by another employee and allegedly found out that Bugayon was indeed doing the illegal act.

Bugayon, as assistant manager, is in-charge of handling the sales for the day as well as in the depositing it to the bank. She was likewise given the discretion to grant discounts to customers.

According to the complainant, they found out that Bugayon was able to steal money by collecting exact payment from the clients but report the sales as discounted. Based on the complainant’s investigation, the accused have accumulated amount of P3,292 which she did not declare as sales.

The accused was subpoenaed to submit her counter affidavit but she failed to comply prompting the prosecutor’s office to resolve the complaint based on the evidence presented by the complainant. —Fred P. Languido/WAB   (FREEMAN NEWS)
