Three injured in separate incidents

-

CEBU, Philippines - Three men, including two minors, were injured after they figured in separate shooting and mauling incidents dawn yesterday and evening last Friday.

The more recent incident happened almost 2am along S. Borces Street in sitio Camansi, barangay Mabolo when a 14-year old out-of-school youth was shot by the enemy of his friend.

The suspect was identified as Jackson “Jack-Jack” Libor, 19, a motorcycle-for-hire driver, and a resident of sitio Magtalisay in barangay Mabolo.

Investigation showed that prior to the incident, Libor allegedly mauled a certain “Badjeck” who is a friend of the victim, which prompted Libor’s friend Federico Hernandez to intervene.

When Hernandez was walking away, an apparently irked Libor pulled out a handgun and shot him. However, the bullet missed the target and hit the victim who was standing several meters away with his other friends.

The victim was hit on his left thigh and was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center. Libor fled the scene and eluded the responding elements of the Mobile Patrol Group.

Meanwhile, late evening last Friday, a 17-year-old trisikad driver landed in the hospital after he was shot by two unidentified men shortly before midnight in sitio Mohon I, barangay Tisa.

The victim was reportedly walking on his way home when he heard a gunshot and realized that he was actually the target. He was hit on his buttocks.

The victim said he was able to trace where the gunfire came from and saw two men running away towards sitio Bayong. He later told police that he found no reason for anyone to hate him, much more shoot him.

The victim is now recuperating at the Cebu City Medical Center.

On the same night, one Jesse Mercander, 27, a resident of barangay Day-as was mauled by a certain Jayson of barangay Basak at the corner of P. Del Rosario and D. Jakosalem Streets shortly before midnight.

The victim told the police he was about to leave from a drinking session with the suspect hit him with an iron bar on the chain, which rendered him unconscious. He later learned that he also sustained bruises on different parts of his body. He is recuperating at the hospital. — Niña G. Sumacot/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
