5 fall for Nubain proliferation

CEBU, Philippines - A man and a woman were placed under arrest for allegedly maintaining a drug den in sitio Cuadra, barangay Poblacion Pardo while three others were arrested for using nubain therein.

Investigation and Detective Management Branch 7 chief Pablo Labra II dispatched his men to the area last Friday night after he received two successive calls from a concerned citizen about the alleged proliferation of nubain in sitio Cuadra.

The team, led by SPO1 Filomeno Mendaros, arrived at the subject house past 7pm and apprehended Gary Graba and Gliezel Alegarme, the ones who allegedly maintained the “den.”

Five ampules of nubain, scientifically called as Nalbuphine Hydrochloride, and 15 disposable syringes were confiscated from their possession.

Suspected users John Rey Basale, George Deiparine and Teodoro Montecillo, all residents of Upper Pakigne, Minglanilla who were in the area during the raid were also placed under arrest. Each one reportedly carried an ampule of nubain. The suspects are now in detention and are awaiting formal charges against them. — Niña G. Sumacot/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
