CEBU, Philippines - Two minors suspected to be gang members were charged with three counts of attempted murder before the Regional Trial Court yesterday for shooting bystanders at a birthday party last Sunday.
The two suspects, both 16 years old, are facing attempted murder charges after they accidentally shot and injured Reza Diapana and Orlando Cabellon along the Modesta Street in barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.
Chris John Barinque, who was supposed to be the target of the two, said that he and the victims were standing when the group of eight minors passed by and suddenly opened fire at him but missed.
Barinque then saw his cousin Diapana already bloodied in the shoulder and Cabellon in the leg.
He said the group immediately fled after the shooting but two of the members were apprehended by the responding barangay tanods.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development said the two minors acted with discernment when they committed the crime thus the charges were filed against them.
A bail of P24,000 is recommended for each of the suspects for their temporary liberty. — Jasmin R. Uy/LPM (FREEMAN NEWS)
