2,270 stalks of marijuana confiscated in Danao City

CEBU, Philippines - Operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, 78th Infantry Battalion and Danao City Police Station were able to uproot a total of 2,270 stalks of marijuana plants in Sitio Panliwad-on, Barangay Sibakan, Danao City yesterday morning.

Of the confiscated marijuana plants, police said 270 stalks were fully grown while the remaining 2,000 are still to be planted seedlings.

1Lt. Eric Pidazo of the 78th Infantry Battalion based in Danao City said that they had received information from a concerned citizen regarding the marijuana plantation located in the said place.

“Around 4 a.m., we verified the information given to us, and at 9 a.m. we went back to the place together with some agents from Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), PNP Danao and soldiers from 78th IB, but upon reaching the area caretakers were nowhere to be found,” said Pidazo.

Pidazo added that they are still investigating to confirm who is behind the marijuana plantation.
