CCPO dares cop's wife to prove robbery
CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Police Office has challenged Christine Uy-Solante, wife of PO3 Reynaldo Solante, to produce copies of the withdrawal slips or any pertinent documents that will prove she has withdrawn P300,000 from her bank account that was allegedly stolen by two policemen who went to her apartment to check a firearm last week.
CCPO director Patrocinio Comendador said this is to determine if there was really money stolen from Solante.
This happened as Solante filed a complaint for robbery yesterday against PO2 Marvin Sanson of Fuente Police Station and SPO2 Rene Sultan Mobile Patrol Group before the National Bureau of Investigation-7.
Comendador, who directed the Investigation and Detective Management Branch, to do a fact-finding on the incident, clarified that if proven that Sanson indeed stole the money, he will definitely impose sanctions against the police officer. The result of the investigation will be forwarded to Police Regional Office-7 Director Lani-O Nerez.
But if proven otherwise and found out that Solante just created a frame up to get even with the police officers, Comendador said they will use all the resources of the CCPO to counter the accusations.
Citing one of the PNP rules, he said Solante, in the first place, should have not carried the firearm with her as she is a civilian and it is a government property. He added the CCPO will support the accused policemen in whatever way they can.
Nerez, in a report over GMA-7 Balitang Bisdak, said he has ordered his personnel to do their own investigation on the incident.
Solante will go back today to the NBI-7 to submit the supporting documents to prove her complaint.
While Sanson reportedly had said that it was Solante who handed over the Armalite rifle to him when they arrived at the apartment, Solante denied it, saying it was Sanson who took the rifle from the locker after forcing her to go to her apartment to check for the weapon.
The complainant’s husband, PO3 Reynaldo Solante, heads the bomb disposal team of the Cebu Provincial Police Office.
Solante has accused Sultan and Sanson of conducting an illegal search in their apartment, stealing P300,000 cash from their locker and taking three cellular phones. – Niña G. Sumacot/WAB (FREEMAN NEWS)
