Woman dies in motorcycle accident

CEBU, Philippines - A woman died after she reportedly lost control of the motorcycle she was driving while she was negotiating down a hilly terrain last Thursday noon in sitio Sug-ong, Montpelier, Alegria town.

Marilyn Vicada, 34, was declared dead on arrival at the hospital while Nirelou Bayron, 27, who was riding in pillion, is currently under observation in a hospital here in the city.

According to the investigation, Vicada was driving a Honda Wave motorcycle with Bayron on their way home to Montpelier when the vehicle suddenly swerved to the left side of the road.

Vicada subsequently went downhill and lose control of the vehicle. They fell approximately two meters off a rocky cliff causing them to sustain injuries in the different parts of their bodies.

The victims were taken to the Reinhard Wergen Memorial Hospital but Vicada was declared dead on arrival there while Bayron was transferred to a hospital here for further treatment.

Meanwhile, a 21-year-old trisikad driver died after two unidentified persons suddenly shot him several times last Wednesday night in barangay Cantuod, municipality of Balamban.

Glowel Medola Candrado died instantly after he was shot and hit on the different parts of his body.

Investigation showed that the victim was driving his trisikad on the way home at around 10 p.m. when two persons suddenly waylaid him and shot him several times.

The body was subjected for a post mortem examination.

Police recovered 12 empty shells of caliber 45 and a slipper from the crime scene.

The police are still conducting an investigation to determine the motive behind the incident and to possibly identify the assailants. — Niña G. Sumacot/MEEV   (FREEMAN NEWS)
