Taxi driver killed by trisikad driver
CEBU, Philippines - A 36-year-old taxi driver was shot to death by his neighbor who is a trisikad driver Wednesday evening in sitio Isla Verde, Barangay San Isidro, Talisay City.
The fatality was identified as Edwin Catindoy, a resident of the place but a native of Abuyog, Leyte. The suspect was also identified as Joel Sanchez, 46.
PO2 Edwin Alvarado of the Talisay City Police Station said prior to the incident, the victim was drinking together with his brother-in-law and a friend near their house.
Suddenly, Sanchez arrived and, without any apparent reason, allegedly shot the victim, hitting him in his left cheek with the bullet exited through his right head. The suspect immediately fled.
The victim was rushed to Talisay City District Hospital for treatment but the attending physician declared him dead on arrival.
PO3 Arnold Damasco, PO3 Mikie Espina and PO2 Leandro Azarcon recovered a holster of unidentified firearm from the crime scene.
