Senator Escudero to support Durano

CEBU, Philippines - Senator Francisco “Chiz” Escudero yesterday expressed his support to Tourism Secretary Joseph “Ace” Durano should the latter decide to run for governor in Cebu province.

Escudero, who has been visiting places nationwide but did not admit yet his plan to seek the presidency, said there is a “possibility that Ace will run for governor.”

“Whatever position he will aspire, he has my full support,” he said in a press conference in Cebu.

Escudero, who will turne 40 on October 10, said he will make his formal announcement on that day whether he will run for president, vice president or not at all.

But when asked what position he is eyeing, he replied, “Kung tatakbo nga ako, eh di ‘yong mataas na. Libre naman ang mangarap.”

To date, the National Peoples Coalition has still to choose its standard bearer. Aside from Escudero, who is being eyed to head the party, Senator Loren Legarda, also an opposition is also eyeing to run for the highest position in the country. Will it be Chiz-Loren or Loren-Chiz, Escudero replied, “dapat mauna yong dapat mauna alphabetically.” —Mitchelle L.
