Rotary holds new generation confab

CEBU, Philippines - Rotary District 3860 will hold its 2009 New Generation Conference today at the USC Law and Business Center Building at Pelaez St., Cebu City.

The whole day event with the theme, Winning Through F.A.M.E., will be simultaneously with Manila at the University of Makati and will be sharing information through video conference.

F.A.M.E. is an acronym for Foresight Beyond Now, Access to Success, Mileage to Global Competition and Empowerment with Principles.

Among the session topics are: Preparing for life through quality education, getting involved in good governance, caring for the environment, global challenges for the youth, good mental programming, starting early for entrepreneurship and preparing for world-class leadership.

“The youth today are more empowered than ever before. Through information and exposure, the youth are now more attuned to what is happening around them, thus, giving them the ability to make decisions and implement changes in their own lives and the lives of other people,” says New Generation District Chair Dinna Ramos.

Through its youth programs, Rotary has been conducting activities focused on the youth under the Rotaract and Interact organizations which allow members to discover more about themselves and the world by participating in community projects and youth exchanges and attending leadership trainings.

Young people also learn about the principles of ethics, service, and fellowship that Rotarians exemplify.

The youth conference is hosted by District 3830 spearheaded by Rotary Club of Makati Paseo de Roxas & District 2860 spearheaded by Rotary Club of Cebu Fuente together with the Rotaract Club of Cebu Fuente Networks Community- Based, the University of San Carlos & STI.
