25 PGMA scholars graduate

CEBU, Philippines - The fifth batch of this year’s Pangulong Gloria Scholarship Fund graduated last September 8 under the training program “Healthcare Services National Certification Level 2.”

Bernard Restificar, President CEO and Administrator of center for Healthcare Profession Cebu, Inc., said the graduates were trained to become healthcare service workers, which means after they graduated from the training services they will become nursing aides or hospital assistants.

However, he said it is mandatory for the graduates to take the assessment or licensing before they graduate and that all of them should pass the assessment conducted by the Technical Education Skills Development Authority for them to become licensed nursing aides and hospital assistants.

Susan Cuyno, one of the focal persons and in-charge of the Pangulong Gloria Scholarship of the provincial office of TESDA graced the occasion.

The graduates had undergone training for four months with free tuition, allowances and a free assessment fee. Trainings include lectures in classroom, demonstrations, return demonstration, tactical examination and on the job training with the training partner affiliate in Sacred Hearth Hospital in Urgello.

“We also send our clinical instructor to be with them and they were exposed in several departments like medical ward, dietary section and we also exposed them at the emergency room,” Restificar said. “We mold them to become competent and skillful, ready to face and take job in the hospital.”

Restificar said that most of the scholars are undergraduates who decided to train to become healthcare professionals.

Further, he said that PGSF is also open for displaced workers “as we are experiencing global economic crisis.”

“It must be very difficult for those people who had no job and were terminated because of the problem of economic here and abroad,” he said. — Johanna T. Natavio/WAB   (FREEMAN NEWS)
