Ex-cop faces raps for loose gun

-

CEBU, Philippines - An additional charge of illegal possession of firearms on top of the robbery and extortion charges has been filed against an ex-policeman before the Regional Trial Court yesterday for alleged extortion.

Earlier Frederick Ronduen was charged for robbery and extortion by vendors of DVD stalls along N. Bacalso Ave. for allegedly taking away their DVDs last August 15.

PO1 Allan Caumeran in his affidavit said that he approached a group of vendors having an argument along N. Bacalso and when he introduced himself as a policeman, the vendors asked for his help regarding the alleged extortion activities made by Ronduen.

The vendors said that Ronduen forcibly took their DVDs by intimidating them.

Ronduen was with two women named Estela Marie Baltazar and Vera Baltazar Flores when they allegedly took the DVDs from the vendors.

When Caumeran approached the three and asked to inspect their backpack, he found at least 13 DVDs inside the bag as well as a .45 cal. pistol.

Ronduen is the same policeman who was the suspect in a shooting alarm last December.

Wilfredo Laurente and his daughter Cheryl Rosal reported to the Talisay police that Ronduen shot him last December 24 in sitio Laray, barangay San Roque, Talisay City.

Wilfredo was at a Christmas party when he was accidentally shot by Ronduen who chasing someone else at the time.

Several bystanders ganged up on Ronduen and took his .45 cal. pistol. He would have been mauled if barangay tanods had not arrived. – Jasmin R. Uy/BRP   (FREEMAN NEWS)
