P15 million turned over for rehabilitation facility

CEBU, Philippines - Dangerous Drugs Board chairman Vicente “Tito” Sotto III yesterday handed P15 million for the construction and maintenance of the Pastor Bonus Therapeutic Center in barangay Lahug, a residential caring and treatment facility that provides drug dependents a chance to live in dignity and self-worth.

The construction of the rehabilitation center will address the more impending drug problems not only in Cebu but also in some parts of the Visayas.

Sometime ago, Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal formed a partnership with Sotto in the establishment of a rehabilitation center in Argao.

Pastor Bonus needs help to continue with the operations of the whole facility, and the amount will help augment their needs.

Pastor Bonus Therapeutic Community Center is a project of the Archdiocese of Cebu and a community outreach program of the Parole and Probation Administration-7.  The center is managed by former Adm. Gregorio Bacolod.

As of the moment, the rehabilitation center is renting a place and will soon be opening its new building through the fund handed over by Sotto. — Jasmin R. Uy/MEEV (FREEMAN NEWS)
