Jealousy triggers another suicide

CEBU, Philippines - Exactly a week after jealousy triggered the gruesome murders of three people, including two children, and suicide committed by the kids’ father in the cities of Cebu and Lapu-Lapu, a woman allegedly hanged herself for the same reason.

The body of 34-year-old Jovilyn Sancho was found hanging from a cord tied around her neck and connected to the beam of her room, yesterday morning in sitio Galaban, barangay Poblacion, Borbon town reportedly because she got jealous on suspicion that her female live-in partner identified as May Cumba has another lover.

Initial investigation showed that it was Cumba who reportedly found Sancho hanging lifeless inside their room at past 6 a.m. yesterday. Sancho, according to the probe, used a four-meter electrical extension wire.

Elements of the Borbon Police responded to the area after one Joselito Codo called for assistance. But the police had no longer seen the victim hanging from the beam. Instead, Sancho was already rolled up in a blanket inside the couple’s room when they arrived at the scene.

The police requested the Scene of the Crime Operatives to conduct an autopsy on the body to determine if there is foul play involved. — Niña G. Sumacot/MEEV   (FREEMAN NEWS)
