CEBU, Philippines - A woman has been charged for violation of Section 11 of the Dangerous Drugs Act for possession of shabu last August 14 in barangay Tangke, Talisay City.
Maridel Obrero, 23, was arrested by police during a saturation drive after the latter was allegedly found in possession of shabu.
PO3 Eric Enad and PO2 Roy Sarsaba, in their joint affidavit, said that they saw Obrero in a corner of a small alley in sitio Galaxy, barangay Tangke, holding a small packet of shabu in her left hand.
When Obrero allegedly saw the police she tried to escape but police cornered her.
Obrero was arrested and charged for violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
In connection with Obrero’s arrest, Enad and Sarsaba were restricted to camp for allegedly receiving money during an entrapment operation by the National Bureau of Investigation. They have also been reassigned to Pilar, Camotes.
Elvincito Baguio, a resident of Talisay City, filed the complaint that resulted in the entrapment.
In his affidavit he narrated how his niece, Obrero, was arrested last August 14, and how Sarsaba, in a telephone conversation on the same day, allegedly demanded P100,000 in exchange for her release and the non-filing of any charges.
Sarsaba allegedly agreed to cut the amount to half after consulting his “chief,” on the condition that the money would be delivered immediately.
Baguio said he then went to the NBI office to report the matter. — Jasmin R. Uy/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
