Convicted robber faces another complaint for bolting prison cell
CEBU, Philippines - A convicted robber who escaped from Carmen Police Station together with four other prisoners last month is facing another criminal complaint before the Cebu Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.
Carmen Police chief Carlos Reyes yesterday filed the complaint for violation of Article 157 of the Revise Penal Code, otherwise known as evasion of service of sentence against Jeffrey Jagdon.
Jagdon, 22, of Taboc, Danao City was among the five inmates who bolted out from the detention cell of Carmen Police Station in the dawn of July 26 by breaking the padlocks of the facility using a false key and hard objects.
But the suspect was immediately arrested by the pursuing policemen on that same day he escaped.
Jagdon was earlier convicted of robbery and started serving his sentence on June 11.
Municipal Circuit Trial Court Judge Alfredo Dela Victoria sentenced Jagdon to suffer the penalty of imprisonment from three years and six months to four years and nine months after he pleaded guilty to the crime of robbery. —Fred P. Languido/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
