Man arrested for fake bills posts bail

-

CEBU, Philippines - A man posted a bail of P6,000 for his temporary release after he was caught using counterfeit peso bills in a store in barangay Talamban last July 20.

Je Suprales Calunsag, 24, was arrested by policemen of the Talamban police station on the said date after he tried to use a fake P1,000 bill to buy five bottles of Tanduay from JJB Mini Mart.

Store helper Rolando Flores said that on the said date two persons entered the store and one of them, Calunsag, bought five bottles of Tanduay “longneck”.

Flores said that when Calunsag paid him the P1,000 bill, he noticed something different about the money that prompted him to check it with the money testing machine.

When proven that it was fake, Flores called the police and Calunsag was held under arrest.

The money was turned over to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas for inspection. — Jasmin R. Uy/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
