Indians accused of hacking man released from detention
CEBU, Philippines - The National Bureau of Investigation was forced to release the three Indian nationals arrested earlier for allegedly hacking a man in Minglanilla two years ago after the complainant himself withdrew the complaint.
Manuel Lampria executed an affidavit of desistance against Indian nationals Harjinder Singh, Sarbjit Singh and Jaswant Rai whom he earlier accused of hacking him on November 6, 2007 in Tungkop, Minglanilla.
Lampria said the suspects, on several occasions, were contrite in seeking atonement for the wrong they have done to him. According to him, he understood that it was never the intention of the suspects to hurt him but they were just driven by “impulse and blinded by hatred” at that time, believing that he was part of those who made fun of them.
Overcome by their sincerity and remorse, I decided in conformity with my family, to forgive them in a spirit of reconciliation and kind heartedness fully aware that they too have family to take care,” Lampria said.
Lampria did not mention in his affidavit whether or not there was monetary consideration in the withdrawal but said he was doing it voluntarily.
A reliable source, however, told The Freeman that Lampria received a considerable amount as financial assistance from the suspects.
The suspects were arrested by the NBI last Monday at their rented apartment in barangay Tisa based on Lampria’s complaint. Lampria positively identified them as the persons who allegedly tried to kill him two years ago. – Fred P. Languido/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
