CEBU, Philippines - Four hundred and one residents of four barangays in Cebu City availed of the medical mission initiated by The FREEMAN Foundation, the heart of The FREEMAN.

Beneficiaries from barangay Sto. Niño where The FREEMAN is a “resident” of and those from its neighboring barangays of Parian, Kamagayan, and Day-as arrived early at the University of the Visayas gymnasium yesterday morning to avail of free medical checkups, medicines, and vitamins provided by the Foundation headed by its administrator, Dr. Remedios Yap Bacasmas, with Melandro “Bhoy” Mendoza, general manager of The FREEMAN and chief of the Core Group of volunteers.

While waiting for their respective turns, the recipients were provided with packed meals.

The medical mission, carried out as one of the outreach programs of the Foundation and in line with the 90th anniversary of The FREEMAN, was assisted by the University of the Visayas medical team from the Talisay District Hospital and Gullas Medical College.

Volunteer physicians include Dr. Manuel Bacareza, Dr. Letecia Abinuman and Dr. Maricel Ednelan; with Dr. Ritchy Mondoy and Dr. Maureen May Nuñez facilitating blood sugar screening.

They were backed by four nurses from the Gullas Medical School - Mariquita Joy Icalina, Mary Winna Teofilo, Jun Mark Sofocado and Carmel Jamaica Tundag, daughter of this paper’s editor-in-chief Jerry Tundag.
