City to make list of its properties

-

CEBU, Philippines - The city is set to take stock of its properties to identify which of them that can be used to help generate funds. This according to acting city treasurer Ofelia Oliva who yesterday ordered her personnel to conduct an inventory of all Cebu City-owned properties and lots.

Oliva said the city has so many properties, but some of them are idle.

Among these idle properties is the one-hectare lot along Salinas Drive adjacent to the main entrance road of the Waterfront Cebu Hotel and Casino that is being used as volleyball court by some persons.

The lot used to be owned by the Cebu provincial government, but it was donated to the city when Mayor Tomas Osmeña and Governor Gwendolyn Garcia were still in good terms.

Oliva said she will also recommend to the mayor that the Citicenter commercial complex building in barangay Kamagayan, that was already forfeited in favor of the city, be converted to a pay-parking area.

The former wet market in barangay Kamagayan was auctioned by the city after its owners failed to pay millions of pesos in taxes and also failed to redeem the lot and building within the one-year redemption period.

“Daghan kaayo kita og mga properties nga atong magamit para makatabang sa dakbayan pag-generate og revenue,” Oliva told The FREEMAN when asked of her plans on how to improve the city’s revenue collection. – Rene U. Borromeo/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
