Alleged drug pusher killed in Sambag

-

CEBU, Philippines – An alleged drug user and pusher was killed by another alleged drug suspect yesterday morning in Barangay Sambag 2 after he was allegedly mistaken as a police asset.

The victim, Jimmy Amen, 31, resident of Villagonzalo I, Barangay Tejero was killed at around 11 a .m. at the house of his friend in Sitio Pailub, Sambag 2.

Amen was immediately identified as the lover of Carin Ann Kenny, the woman who claimed to her Australian husband, Sean Paul Kenny, that she was kidnapped by Amen in March. It was later found out after an entrapment operation by the police that it was just a “kidnap me” scenario. It was also learned that Carin Ann, was also married to a Filipino, Felipe Deymos.

PO2 Leroy Baguio of the Homicide Section said that Amen was about to take a bath while the suspect, Johnny Abella Jr., together with a certain “Bunso” arrived and him.

“Naghisgot man to ang suspect nga naay ipalukat, unya pagtaud-taud ni-ingon pa gani to nga ‘Ayaw gaw, ayaw gaw wa koy sala gaw,’ dayon pusil dayon,” Baguio said.

Amen still allegedly managed to run but the suspect chased and shot him some more until he expired.

Responding police officers recovered two empty shells, two live rounds and one slug of .45 caliber pistol from the crime scene.

“Ang biktima dili jud na taga didto sa Sambag II pero mag-anhaan lang na siya kay naa siya higala mura gani ug naa siyay gi-karelasyon didto sa maong balay nga iyang adtuan,” Baguio added.

The Theft and Robbery Section went to the area to verify if the victim was indeed the subject of the warrant of arrest for violation of illegal possession of firearm and illegal drugs. They later confirmed that Amen is the subject of the warrant issued by Regional Trial Court branch 10 Judge Soliver Peras.

Police were also able to identify Abella as the suspected drug dealer who escaped during the raid conducted by Fuente police station last Tuesday morning reportedly after detecting the presence of the police through the surveillance camera installed in his house.

Cebu City Police Office director Patrocinio Comendador said that Amen was not an asset of the police, adding the killing was drug-related. — Niña G. Sumacot and Christopher Gabriel C. Bonjoc/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
