To know needs of fesidents: Carmen officials go around barangays

-

CEBU, Philippines - The municipal officials of Carmen have started its barangay visitation program to listen to the needs of the residents as a way of bringing the government closer to the people.

Carmen Mayor Sonia Q. Pua, accompanied by the department heads, visited Barangay Cantumog Tuesday afternoon and listened problems and concerns of the residents. Municipal councilors Zaldy Capuno and Regel Bacula were also present during the activity.

Before the consultation, personnel from the Municipal Health Office headed by Dr. Elmer Batao conducted a free medical consultation. The office of the Municipal Assessor headed by Engr. Victor Pua also distributed land titles to the landowners while personnel from the Municipal Social Welfare Office conducted a feeding to the day care students of the barangay with the help of barangay health workers.

Mayor Pua likewise led the inauguration of the Cansaguring road, distributed school bags to day care students and bundles of joy donated by her daughter Bambi Pua to the residents.

During the open forum, school heads of both elementary and high schools of the barangay aired their concerns over the safety of their school properties.

The mayor told The FREEMAN that the “Bisita sa Barangay,” initiated by her administration, aims to bring the services of the government directly to the people in the barangays.

“Maoy atong katuyoan nga mahatagan gayud sa husto nga serbisyo ang mga katawhan sa barangay, ug dali nga mahibaw-an ang ilang mga problema,” Pua said.
