CEBU, Philippines – Vice Mayor Michael Rama has formed a composite team to handle 10 lowland barangays that are always “unclean” because of streamers, buntings, posters, and billboards.
Councilor Edwin Jagmoc said Rama has created a composite team composed of representatives from the Department of Public Services, Office of the Building Official, Squatters Prevention Encroachment and Elimination Division, Parks and Playgrounds and many others.
An example, Jagmoc said, is the road near the Department of Social Welfare and Development and along the two malls at the North Reclamation Area.
“The unauthorized billboards for example, will already need the Office of the Building Official and many others,” Jagmoc said.
Jagmoc said the composite team will begin operations on Monday along Imus Street. The barangay captains of the 10 barangays would also be made to implement activities to address the problem on garbage.
Aside from the composite team, Jagmoc said Rama has also ordered a round-the-clock cleanliness drive in barangays prone to foreign visits. – Ferliza C. Contratista/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
