CEBU, Philippines – For additional mileage both national and local, ousted president Joseph Estrada is set to be the next endorser of opposition leader Jonathan Guardo’s Arthro, an anti-arthritis supplement.
Contrary to the announcement of Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña, Guardo said that Kugi Uswag Sugbo Party still has not finalized their endorsed presidential candidate for next year’s elections.
Guardo also said they are coming up with an advertisement for Arthro with Estrada as endorser.
Osmeña was earlier reported to have said that Guardo’s alleged spending for Cebu City South District will double when Sen. Manuel Villar will also pour in his resources.
“Of course, that is not true, we are still evaluating, in fact, we got Erap as the first ex-president to have made a commercial,” Guardo said.
Because Estrada does not yet have a paid advertisement unlike the other presidential hopefuls, Guardo said he grabbed the opportunity to ask him to promote Arthro.
Estrada, he said, is also the best endorser considering that he admitted taking the supplement for his arthritis.
Guardo said Kusug is still in the process of selecting those most qualified to join their lineup considering that Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan has the advantage of being the incumbent.
Guardo also denied Osmeña’s statement that he has been spending a lot for the southern residents “like there is no tomorrow”.
“I merely invested in my staff but these people do not give money, they just assist the patients for example, for assistance extended by national government agencies and religious organizations, this is not my money,” Guardo said.
He cited as an example discounts and medicines given by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
Being a businessman, Guardo said he can also pull out resources from private sectors eager to have community outreach programs and medical missions in the barangays.
Guardo also he said has never been invisible since he lost in the previous election and is constantly touching base with the residents.
