Two police units, barangay officials get commendation

-

CEBU, Philippines - For the arrest of notorious fratman and uproot of marijuana stalks, the City Council has commended two police units and officials of a mountain barangay.

The resolution, which was authored by Committee on Police, Order and Security chairman Augustus Pe, commends the personnel of Police Station 11 and the Mobile Patrol Group and the officials of Barangay Tagbao. The resolution was approved in last week’s City Council session.

Commendation was given to Senior Insp. Pablo Cabildo along with PO3 Celso Sarona, PO2 John Paul Bacalso and PO1 Jeffrey for the arrest of Sonny de la Cruz in May.

De la Cruz was reportedly the right hand man of Aristotle Aves, the alleged hitman of Alpha Kappa Rho fraternity. Both are facing frustrated murder cases before the sala of Regional Trial Cour Judge Eric Menchavez.

Police said dela Cruz is also involved in several other shooting incidents involving Akhro and rival fraternity Tau Gamma Phi and is now detained at the Cebu City Jail in Kalunasan.

On the other hand, the personnel of the MPG composed of PO2 Jessael Ancheta and PO2 Romeo Tamosa in coordination with Tagbao barangay captain Elvis Tabal and barangay tanods Jayme Arcilla, Moises Cedo, Jeffrey Doncillo, Vier Ministerio and Leo Enosyan also received a commendation for the seizure of 200 marijuana stalks in Sitio Manggabon earlier this month.

Pe said the commendations are given to inspire the PNP men and barangay officials to be more vigilant as well as to serve as model for the rest in the organization. The problem on fraternities as well as illegal drugs like marijuana remains to be on top of the priorities of the city police, he added. — Ferliza C. Contratista/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
