Gibo spokesman to lawyer: Withdraw case to save face

CEBU, Philippines – The spokesperson of Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro, Jr. challenged the lawyer who has accused some public officials of using government funds for political advertisements.

Lawyer Nelson Victorino, who was included in the accusation, dares fellow lawyer, Ernesto Francisco, to show evidence proving such accusations, saying “dapat i-urong niya ang kaso kung wala din lang siyang maipakitang ebidensya para di siya mapahiya.”

Francisco has asked the Manila Regional Trial Court to put a stop to these political ads, suspecting that the funds used are sourced out from government coffers.

But Victorino said that Teodoro’s commercials on preparations for disasters are done in the department’s drive to provide more information to the people in the name of public service.

“We can assure the Filipino people that no government funds were used in the infomercials of Sec. Teodoro. Just like we said before, when we launched these TV and radio ads on disaster preparedness during the Pacquiao-Hatton boxing match last month, the funding of this public service ad came from well-meaning groups and private individuals.” — AJ dela Torre/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
