Armed ex-cop arrested in Carcar

CEBU, Philippines – An ex-policeman was shot and arrested after he ran armed toward the house of Mayor Patrick Barcenas in San Vicente St., barangay Poblacion I, Carcar town, last Wednesday around 9 p.m.

The arrested person was identified as Felino Amistad Jr., a resident of sitio Dapdap, barangay Poblacion III of the said town.

Base on the police record, suspect was walking at the said place brandishing his bolo, a slingshot and an ice pick heading towards the house of Mayor Patrick Barcenas.

People who saw the suspect reported him to the police.

The team of SPO1 Meliton Agadier Jr. responded and ordered the suspect to throw all his weapons to the ground but the said suspect ignored their orders and slowly approached them.

Agadier fire a warning shot but still the said suspect continued to approach them, prompted SPO1 Agadier Jr. to shoot the suspect’s right leg. After the suspect still refused to stop Agadier also shot him in the left leg, effectively immobilizing him.

“Mura sad jud ni siya ug Rambo ato. Kuyaw kaayo,” Agadier said.

 Amistad was brought to the Carcar district hospital for treatment but was later transferred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

Amistad was a former patrolman of Philippine Constabulary- Integrated National Police who was discharged after suffering a mental illness in the 90s, Agadier said.

“Wala pa hinuon namo na-istorya si Amistad ug unsa iyang tuyo sa mayor kay napa man sab siya sa hospital,” Agadier said.
