Defective gun foils rob try
CEBU, Philippines - A man was arrested after the .38 caliber revolver he used in allegedly robbing an Indian national failed to fire.
Danny Limutan, 43, of barangay Talamban was arrested after reportedly robbing 27-year-old Jatin Kumar and his wife of cash worth P15,000; his mobile phone worth P9,000; and his motorcycle past 6 p.m. the other day in Atillo Road, barangay Punta Princesa, this city.
SPO3 Socrates Bacalso of the Punta Princesa Police Station said that the victim was with his wife on their way home in the said place when upon arriving at the gate of their house, two motorcycle-riding men suddenly blocked their way.
Limutan, who drove a blue motorcycle with plate number 7002-GN, and his companion he identified as 30-year-old Allan Tejano then demanded the said items from the victims.
When the victims showed resistance, Limutan reportedly aimed a .38 cal. revolver at them, pulled the trigger three times, but the gun failed to fire. Upon noticing such, Kumar began punching the suspect while his wife went bashing the suspect’s head with a crash helmet. Afterwhich, the victims were able to recover the robbed items.
Meanwhile, Tejano jumped on the motorcycle of the victims and sped away leaving Limutan slumped on the ground.
Neighbors who noticed the commotion then called for police assistance that led to the arrest of Limutan and the confiscation of his unlicensed firearm.
