-

CEBU, Philippines – Cebu 5th district Rep. Ramon “Red” Durano VI led the inauguration of a road concreting project worth P2 million in barangay Kawit, town of Pilar recently.

The road concreting project is in response to the request made by local officials and is just one of the several projects undertaken in Pilar and its neighboring towns of Poro, Tudela and San Francisco in Camotes Island.

According to Pilar Mayor Jet Fernandez, they presented the problem to Durano who in turn approved the release of funds from his Priority Development Assistance Fund.

As for improvement in water system, residents of the coastal barangay of Siocon in Bogo now have ample water supply after Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri released funds to finance the putting up of a water system in the said place. Zubiri visited Bogo during the inauguration of the water system expected to address the water problem in the area.

During the inauguration of the water system in Siocon, Zubiri said he did not have second thoughts in releasing an initial P500,000 for the project after Mayor Celestino Martinez, Jr. made a request to him.

The senator said that when he assumed office, he made a promise to Cebuano local leaders that he will allocate funds to finance various projects in their barangays. “Hatagan nako ang mga mayor sa pagpili unsa nga priority projects ang ilang gusto nga ipatuman sa ilang tagsatagsa ka dapit,” Zubiri said.

According to Martinez, the local government also released P1.2 million as counterpart for the water system project. — Jose P. Sollano/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
