Osmeña in Camiguin with Filinvest official?

CEBU, Philippines - Capitol information consultant Rory Jon Sepulveda yesterday disclosed that Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña is vacationing in Camiguin.

Sepulveda said someone he knew from Camiguin called him up and told him “he saw Mayor Osmeña with Andrew Gotianun, the owner and president of Filinvest Land Incorporated (FLI).

 “Was it co-accidental that Mayor Tom chooses Camiguin to be a place for him to rest knowing that Congressman Romualdo is from there,” Sepulveda said.

 He said that Representative Pedro Romualdo of Camiguin is the chairman of House committee on good government and public accountability that will hear the issues surrounding the joint venture between FLI and city government for development of 50-hectare portion of South Road Properties (SRP).

Last Thursday, Osmeña did not show up at City Hall as he took time to rest after undergoing medical treatment in the United States for his urinary bladder cancer.

City Administrator Francisco Fernandez, in a report over GMA-7 Balitang Bisdak, said Osmeña is indeed in Camiguin to rest, adding that they have no knowledge on whoever the mayor wants to meet while vacationing there.

A congressional inquiry into the SRP deal, which was being sought by Cebu third district Representative Pablo John Garcia, will possibly start in August. — Ferliza C. Contratista/LPM  (THE FREEMAN)
