PhilHealth warning: Some lying-in clinics are "lying"
CEBU, Philippines - The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation warned the public against misinformation given by non-accredited lying-in clinics that members of their dependents may avail of the Maternity Care Package from them but that members have to file their claims directly with PhilHealth.
Dr. Francis Javier of PhilHealth’s Healthcare Delivery and Management Division said that members cannot avail themselves of the benefits unless their healthcare provider is accredited by PhilHealth.
To guide the public, according to PhilHealth, accredited clinics are mandated to put up signages in conspicuous place.
Meanwhile, PhilHealth announced that there are now more maternity clinics that are accredited with them in order to serve its members in Central Visayas better.
PhilHealth Region 7 reports that ten more lying-in clinics received its approval to provide the maternity care package to its members as well as their dependents.
The ten newly-accredited lying-in clinics are located in the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, Danao and Lapu-Lapu and in the towns of Bogo and Balamban.
The new accreditation this brings the number of lying-in clinics situated in Cebu to 25. —Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
