Cop gone AWOL dropped from roster
CEBU, Philippines – A member of the Special Response Unit of the Cebu Provincial Police Office was lately dropped from the rolls after he failed to report to his assignment for a month now.
Supt. Erson Digal, acting CPPO director, said that PO2 Jimmy Rocaberte was already removed from the CPPO roster effective last May 18.
It was on April 15 this year that they learned that Rocaberte was no longer reporting to his assignment at SRU.
From that date Digal gave him one month to report but still Rocaberte did not show up. They tried to communicate with him but were not able to locate him.
Digal finally instructed the SRU to communicate with his family and later found that Rocaberte went abroad without informing his superior officers.
“Amo na siyang giwagtang sa rosters kay nag-AWOL man siya. Hayahay niya nga magdawat sa sweldo niya walay trabaho wala pa jud nipahibawo sa dagko,” Digal said.
Digal said that he has asked Governor Gwendolyn Garcia to stop sending the allowance and salary of Rocaberte.
However, he added that Rocaberte can still file an appeal if he wants his job back.
“Duda namu nga namasin siya didto sa gawas ug naa ba’y maayo nga trabaho unya ug wala balik siya diri, pero dili mana mao,” Digal said. — Christopher Gabriel C. Bonjoc/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
