2 Cebu grads in top 10 of CPA board
CEBU, Philippines - Two graduates of Cebu schools made it to the top ten of the just-released licensure examination fro Certified Public Accountants.
Larianne Kristine Corsiega Betancor from the University of San Jose Recoletos landed in the fifth place of the exam given last May 10 to 11 and 17 to 18 in Manila with a rating of 90.71 percent.
Larianne, 21, hails from Loon, Bohol.
She graduated Magna Cum Laude on October 18, 2008 from Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. She was consistently in the dean’s list and was also actively involved in the activities of their student organization.
Larianne is the eldest and only daughter of Larry and Julieta Betancor. She has a younger brother.
She said that due to persistent review of her lessons and constant going to church, she succeeded in passing the examination.
She also added that she also prepared herself emotionally on the outcome of the examination.
Larianne claimed that though she had negative thoughts at first, she was positive she’ll pass the examination because she had answered most of the questions and found the examination easy.
“Wala ko mag-expect bitaw na mu-top, ang ako is basta mupasar lang, pero extra mile jud ang ako effort,” Larianne said.
She has started attending orientation seminars at different auditing firms in Manila. She already has attended three orientations yesterday and will continue attending more orientations until she’s hired.
She also graduated as class valedictorian during her elementary and high school at Sacred Heart Academy in Bohol.
“If you want something, do not just work hard for it but more importantly pray hard for it. Offer your efforts to the Lord and nothing will be in vain. For everything happens in God’s perfect time. Just have faith,” Betancor said.
Jeramael Villaber, a graduate of the University of Cebu, got the eighth place with a rating of 89.71 percent.
Rudy Aviles, UC Link Director, said that the university is very happy for the said achievement of Villaber as this is the first time that a graduate of the school placed in the top ten of the CPA licensure exam.
Aviles also said that their school got a 100 percent passing mark.
