City oks P5M for homeowners in way of bridge

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Council has already approved the release of more than half a million pesos to be distributed as financial assistance to eight persons whose houses will be affected by the construction of a bridge that will link barangays Guadalupe and Kalunasan.

Councilor Jose Daluz III, chairman of the Committee on Budget and Finance of the Cebu City Council, explained that the P563,649 was already included in the Supplemental Budget 3 and is now ready for release.

The Cebu City Council has already allowed acting Mayor Michael Rama to sign the memorandum of agreement with the supposed beneficiaries of the financial assistance.

The construction of a bridge that will link barangay Guadalupe to Kalunasan will surely make the travel to barangay Lahug —and vice versa— much shorter and easier.

Those who will receive financial assistance are Elizabeth Bautista, Perlita Bedrijo, Sixto Mosqueda, Beltran dela Cerna, Cresencio Canonigo, Juanita Lava, Errl Retirado and Errol Retirado.

The amounts of financial assistance vary depending of the size of their premises that will be affected.

In an earlier interview, Daluz said he will try his best to complete the project within the year. The bridge is seen to decongest traffic along Escario St., because motorists from Guadalupe going to Lahug no longer need to pass in front of the Capitol building.

The bridge from Guadalupe will be linked to Obedience St. which is already part of barangay Kalunasan then connect to Sudlon Road leading to Lahug.
