1 dead, 3 injured in Danao road mishap

CEBU, Philippines - An 18-year-old man died while three others were injured after two motorcycles figured in an accident along the highway of barangay Poblacion in Danao City shortly before midnight yesterday.

Ryan Jaime Gonzales, a resident of barangay Cogon, Danao City was declared dead on arrival at the Danao District Hospital. He was rushed to the hospital after the Kawasaki motorcycle he was driving collided with the motorcycle driven by a certain Jaime Mani Moneva.

Luckily, Moneva, his wife Ligaya, and their son, only sustained injuries.

SPO1 Renante Manulat, chief traffic investigator of Danao City, said their investigation showed that Gonzales was driving fast when he collided into the family’s motorcycle at a curve in barangay Poblacion.

Both motorcycles were heading towards Cebu City.

Manulat said the impact threw Gonzales off his bike to a tree and subsequently to the concrete pavement head on.
