20 trisikads given out in Padyak Caravan

-

CEBU, Philippines - Broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez and her fiancé, Senator Mar Roxas, were here yesterday for the giving out of 20 trisikads to some lucky raffle winners in barangay Inayawan where around 5,000 residents welcomed them.

The giving of trisikads is part of Roxas’ “Padyak Caravan” in the Visayas and in Mindanao which aims to provide livelihood among the poor.

When Sanchez was asked on Roxas’ bid for the presidency next year, she said she believes Roxas can be a good presidential candidate.

“He should be President to change this country. He is the best thing to happen in this country, especially grabe na ang corruption sa ating bansa,” said Sanchez in a press conference yesterday at the La Gondola Restaurant of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel in barangay Lahug.

“He is good and he is not corrupt,” she added.

Sanchez already went on an indefinite leave from her programs - as anchor of dzMM and news anchor of “Bandila” aired over ABS-CBN - in preparation for her upcoming wedding with the senator and for the 2010 elections wherein she will be in the frontline of Roxas’ campaign.

“Kung sasayaw at kakanta ako during the campaign, gagawin ko ‘yan kasi mahal ko siya,” Sanchez said.

Sanchez and Roxas have been dating for five years and have recently announced via a noontime variety show of their engagement and their plans to settle down, although the date of the wedding has still to be finalized.

Sanchez also visited here the shop of Cary Santiago, a well-known designer of the country, who will be designing her gown for her “despedida de soltera”. — Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
