Boy hit by stray bullet

CEBU, Philippines – A 6-year-old boy was hit by a stray bullet inside his house in sitio San Roque, barangay Kawit, Medellin town midnight of yesterday.

The victim was identified as Renel Godinez Orbizo, who was hit in his right thigh with the bullet exited through his left thigh.

Reports reaching Cebu Provincial Police Office said an ex-convict, identified as Liknoy Montaña, 50, a resident of sitio Mina, barangay Dalingding Sur, arrived at the place and started shouting for no reason, waking up some residents.

Witnesses said Montaña shouted: “Kinsay nagbaligya sa akong ngalan diri sa San Roque nga mangayo ko og isda? Kay hutdon ta mo og patay.”

After shouting, the suspect pulled out an unknown firearm and open fire. But the bullet bounced from the ground and whooshed toward the house where the victim was sleeping.

Upon knowing that somebody was hit, Montaña immediately fled the area.

The victim was brought to Severo Verallo Hospital and was later transferred to Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (DVSMMC).
