Mariners' Court inaugurated

-

CEBU, Philippines - The Japan Seafarers Union-JSU/Philippine Seafarers Union-PSU Mariners’ Court was inaugurated in line with the commemoration of the Labor Day yesterday.

Built at a cost of P140 million, the eight-storey building is located at the port area.

Aside from giving welfare, the Mariners’ Court also provides Filipino seafarers training facilities to advance their skills at subsidized rates.

The PSU-Associated Labor Union, together with the JSU, represents the Filipino seafarers on board Japanese vessels on different matters, especially on collective bargaining agreements.

Department of Labor and Employment Secretary Marianito Roque graced the event, attended by ALU president Democrito T. Mendoza, ALU national executive vice president Cecilio Seno, ALU national vice president for membership recruitment and services division Gerard R. Seno, JSU president Capt. Yoji Fujisawa, and hundreds of ALU officers and members in the Visayas.
