City's jail extension facility inaugurated

CEBU, Philippines – Toledo City Arlene Zambo recently inaugurated the newly constructed extension cell of the city jail.

The 60-bed capacity extension cell for male prisoners was opened last April 27. The new facility is expected to help the living conditions of the inmates, said Toledo City Jail warden C. Insp. Renante Rubio

Sta. Ana Lebumfacil Foundation, a non-government organization, funded the project. The foundation has been a partner of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in implementing projects for inmates of the city jail.

Aside from Zambo and Rubio, Clifford Gaite of the Sta. Ana Foundation, Judge Cesar Estrera of Regional Trial Court Branch 29, Judge Hermes Montero of RTC Branch 29, and the regional director of the BJMP also attended the inauguration.

Aside from the foundation, other NGOs also supported the implementation of the project. — AJ de la Torre/LPM (THE FREEMAN)
