Woman found dead in cemetery

CEBU, Philippines – A 40-year-old woman was found dead inside an old public cemetery in barangay Pajac, Liloan town, last Wednesday afternoon around 5 p.m.

The fatality was identified as Christina G. Lauron, a resident of barangay Tayud, Consolacion town.

PO2 Edward Molina of the Liloan police said they went to the area after an informant told them what happened.

The fatality was already in rigor mortis and they found that a strap of her bra was tied around her neck, leading them to believe she had committed suicide.

It found out that the victim owed many people money in their town.

While suicide seems apparent, Molina said foul play is also possible.

“Nagduda nami kay kung gahikog ang biktima imposible kaayo nga mamatay siya pinaagi lang sa iyang mga kamot ug pag-higot sa iyang liog kay naghigda raman sad siya. Usa pa sad basin og siya natagak sa iyang gibitayan pero wala man sad mi nakita nga posibleng gibitayan sa biktima,” Molina said. 

There were also reports that the victim allegedly just withdrew P11,000 but her wallet was found empty. — Christopher Gabriel C. Bonjoc/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
