CEBU, Philippines - At least one person was killed while another one was injured in separate shooting incidents in barangays Lusaran and Carreta, Cebu City evening on Holy Thursday.
The incident in barangay Lusaran happened around 10:15 pm when two unidentified men on board a motorcycle shot Michael Bacalso, 24, several times while the victim was walking home with his uncle Anecito Comendador.
Bacalso is a resident of barangay Guadalupe.
Investigation revealed that Bacalso and Comendador were walking along sitio Kang-Atis when they were waylaid by two men on motorcycle who, without any provocation, shot Bacalso several times, which caused his instantaneous death.
Police retrieved two empty bullet shells from the crime scene while Bacalso’s body was taken to St. Francis Funeral Homes for post mortem examination.
The other incident happened in sitio Mahayahay in barangay Carreta when two men, identified only as Casper and Buldog of sitio Tabay, conspired in shooting Pederito Malapit in the middle of the victim’s sleep.
Malapit, 26, alleged he was sleeping in a trailer at a vacant lot when the suspects woke him up and shot him twice, hitting him on the left side of his body.
The suspects then allegedly immediately fled towards the interior portion of sitio Mahayahay. Malapit, who was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center, pointed to the two suspects as the gunmen. — Niña G. Sumacot/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
