-

CEBU, Philippines – A construction worker died after falling from the third floor of the building where he was working yesterday morning.

The victim was identified as Argie Cabalay, 23, a resident of Bugas, Badian town and a stay-in worker of the Henry Oaminal Construction Company.

Investigation showed that Cabalay was sawing a piece of wood at the third floor of the new SSS Building that they were constructing along Osmeña Boulevard, barangay Kamagayan, this city, past 9 a.m. yesterday when the area where he was sitting on collapsed.

Reportedly without the benefit of a safety line, Cabalay fell on the concrete floor at the ground floor head first.

He was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center, but at around 1 p.m. yesterday he was pronounced dead by the attending physician.

It was found out that hemorrhage had aggravated his condition.

Felix Cartesiano, the foreman of Cabalay, was the one who confirmed that the latter was hired by the construction firm barely a month ago. — Niña G. Sumacot/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
