Alleged frat member found dead in Talisay

-

CEBU, Philippines - A man believed to be a member of Alpha Kappa Rho (Akrho) fraternity was found dead yesterday morning wrapped in a black garbage bag along the South Coastal Road near the Evergreen Memorial Park in barangay San Roque, Talisay City.

As of press time, police officers still could not identify the victim who was only described as 5’5” in height, slim body built, funky hairstyle, in his 20s, wearing red sweatshirt and has an earring in his right ear.

PO2 Lino Diez of Talisay City Police Station Homicide Section, said in an interview over dySS Super Radyo that they received a call from the barangay tanods of San Roque informing them of the dead person at around 6:30 a.m. yesterday.

Upon arriving in the place, Diez said they found the victim still wrapped in a black plastic garbage bag.

Together with the members of the Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) of Cebu City, he said they checked the body and found two wounds in the victim’s chest and three in the back portion of his body.

The responding police officers recovered five silver rings, two silver necklaces, one bracelet, a Salco watch, an earring, silver buckle, cigarettes and match from the man’s body.

Diez said the victim’s body might be thrown by his killers in the area after he was shot several times as his wounds are round shaped, which are believed to be caused by gun bullets.

The police also noticed a “burn” in the victim’s right hand, which is the usual identifying mark of Akrho fraternity members.

“Wala gyud mi nakabati og kasikas sa maong area bisa’g amo ni’ng gi-roving kay naa man sa’y nag-drag racing, asta pod gani ang mga silinganang balay wala pod nakabantay og kasikas.” Diez said.

The dead body was brought to St. Francis Funeral Homes for autopsy while the police officers are still conducting follow up investigation for the possible identification of the victim and his killers.

The area where the victim found was found is so dark during the night because the streetlights there are not functioning.

This problem has already been brought up several times but there has been no action from the city government until now. – Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
