CEBU, Philippines - At least 11 scholar students who were able to finish schooling through the Cebu Tertiary Education Assistance Program (CTEAP) yesterday received cash incentives and medals from the Cebu provincial government.

Each of the scholars received P5,000 cash plus additional amount to those who graduated with Latin honors Governor Gwendolyn Garcia herself.

Desiree Kristine Rita of San Fernando town received an additional P20,000 after she graduated magna cum laude from her AB-Liacom course at the University of San Jose-Recoletos.

On the other hand, Nefreteri Medina, who hails from Poblacion Alcoy, got an additional P10,000 for graduating as cum laude from the University of Cebu where she took up BSC-Commerce.

Rita and Medina were among the first batch who graduated since the revival of CTEAP under the lady governor’s administration.

Board Member Juan Bolo, chairman of the Provincial Board committee on education, said that CTEAP started during the administration of former Governor Vicente “Ting-Ting” dela Cerna several years ago.

Garcia revealed that at present, CTEAP has more than a hundred scholars from different municipalities and component cities of the province. — Johanna T. Natavio/WAB   (THE FREEMAN)
