Capitol eyes charges vs. Tudela treasurer
CEBU, Philippines – The provincial legal office is contemplating on taking legal action against Tudela municipal treasurer Angelita Roble if the latter would not show up to clear the financial problems of the town.
Provincial Treasurer Roy Salubre said Roble is nowhere to be found and reportedly could no longer be contacted.
One of the accounts that the town needs to settle is its unpaid electricity bills amounting to P102,485.46, covering December 25, 2008 to February 26, 2009.
The unpaid bills have forced the Camotes Electric Cooperative to disconnect the electricity from the town’s municipal hall.
Roble reportedly went to see Governor Gwendolyn Garcia last week and no less than Garcia reportedly asked her to prepare a voucher and a check that Garcia would reportedly sign.
However, Roble reportedly never went back to the Capitol. Salubre said he and Marivic Garces, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer, even went to Tudela, Camotes last Tuesday to see Roble but she also was not there.
Because of this, Salubre said they do not have any choice but to ask for Roble’s replacement from the Bureau of Local Government and Finance. — Johanna T. Natavio/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
