Tom meets call center sector over SRP

CEBU, Philippines – Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña met with the call center sector yesterday night to share to them the South Road Properties package for their workers.

Osmeña said the focus of their marketing now is the call center industry.

“Our gimik, our catch here is to break a situation wherein the call center employee can obtain an MBA while he or she is working,” Osmeña said.

“The call center employee is willing to give up a big part of the salary just to get a Master’s degree, they just have to sacrifice two and a half years,” Osmeña said.

Call center companies he said will lease for a space of the building that a developer will develop and will not have to pay for the land.

“This is the gameplan for the SRP and for the future of Cebu. If this will be successful we will be producing thousands of MBA graduates every year and we can compete with Singapore and Hong Kong,” Osmeña said.

UP Visayas Cebu College proposes to build a P486-million facility at the area donated by the city government in the SRP.

In a proposal submitted by UPVCC to city administrator Francisco Fernandez, the country’s premier university is set to construct a P486-million facility for phase one alone of the planned campus in the 51,372 square meters donated by the City.

According to the proposal, phase one will include the Masters in Business Administration Building and the Computer Science.
