CEBU, Philippines - A wife of a waiter who was working in Saudi Arabia has filed the 43rd civil charge against Sulpicio Lines Inc. last Friday in connection with the sinking of the M/V Princess of the Stars last June 21, 2008.
Farah Angeles-Guinitaran has lodged a P5.5-million damage suit against the shipping company for the death of her husband, Marlon Guinitaran.
Farah claimed Marlon worked as a waiter in Saudi Arabia where he was earning P174,564 annually.
She said her husband went to Manila for his final interview in Magsaysay Shipping for his employment abroad. He was about to go home to Cebu together with hundreds of other passengers when the sea tragedy happened. His body was never found.
Aside from the P5.5 milliom, Farah also demanded for moral and exemplary damages as well as attorney’s fees amounting to approximately P800,000 each.
Like the other complainants, she accused Sulpicio of gross negligence, reckless imprudence that resulted to the death of Marlon.
