Man survives jump off Fernan Bridge

CEBU, Philippines - A 20-year-old alleged user of industrial glue tried to kill himself by jumping off the Marcelo Fernan Bridge in barangay Omapad, Mandaue City early morning yesterday.

But instead of being brought to the hospital, Wilmar Reyes, single, a resident of barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City, landed in jail for using the industrial glue.

Elements of Mandaue City police revealed that at 6:45 a.m., they received information from a radio operator that a man had jumped off the bridge. An alert team was immediately dispatched to respond to the alarm.

But before the alert team arrived, Reyes was already rescued by a fisherman who happened to be in the area where he jumped off.

Police said Reyes told them that he wants to go back on the top of the bridge to jump off again. This prompted the police officers to bring him to the police station for proper disposition.
